A THREE Donation Day!!

Wow! I was so surprised a few minutes ago. I wasn't expected 3 packages today and there are still more to come.

Monica, thank you so very much for the beautiful crochetted gowns. Stunning and so very kind of you. These are the first ones I've received made from yarn. Btw, I realize now after I've uploaded the photos that the gowns open in the back, not the front. Sorry for the photo oops!

My good friend Sheree, mom to a preemie, sent these 8 precious snugglies. She said that Chloe had one of these when she was in the NICU. Mommy is supposed to sleep with it and then it's put in the isolette with the baby. BTW, her preemie is almost 2 and is in the Terrible Twos. hee! hee! I love it!! :-)

And, once again, Amy sent some more things. This time she sent 2 isolette shirts, matching cap & booties, and 4 journals. Thanks a million, Amy!! Remembering Chase and Alexander with you!

Candy, I just discovered your blog and I know I'm going to be a regular reader. Your open discussion of sewing bereavement items, and the way you've rallied others in memory of your sweet daughter, is inspirational. I wrote recently about the need to make bereavement garments in my own blog (check July archives at http://sewinggeek.blogspot.com) and I invite you and your friends to visit and comment - I can always use more ideas. Looking forward to visiting often.

Anne, thank you. That's so very kind of you. Obviously, Emma's death has changed me in many ways, not just opening my eyes to the great need of bereavement items. I hear many say that sewing bereavement items are difficult, but I get great comfort in my small contribution to this need. It's a very sad need, but a need nonetheless. I am able to focus on the small bit of comfort that I got when I held my 1 lbs 12 oz daughter for the first and only time dressed in the sweetest white gown and bonnet.

I'm late coming to the party, but would love to send you a few small things for this project. Can you send me the mailing information privately at annekenlon@stny.rr.com ?? (Or a link to any guidelines on the blog I may have missed..!) So glad to have discovered you - no matter what our motivation for working to meet this need, I do believe that if we CAN do it, we should. Thanks again....

Ooops, just read through again and realized the project's ended....but if you have any follow-up programs or would just like something extra to donate to the NICU of your choice, please let me know and I'll be glad to send your way!

Hi Anne, Thank you so much for your kind offer!! If you have something already made and can ship in the next day or so, please go ahead. I'd be honored to accept some of your work.

However, if you don't, I will continue to donated locally. My next personal project is donate to a local NICU in memory of little Bailey. I met Bailey's mother at a support group. Bailey got the same horrible intestinal infection that Emma got. Bailey survived with only 3" of her intestines, but died Christmas Eve 2005 from kidney and liver failure, secondary to being on TPN longterm. I'm going to talk with Bailey's Mom soon and set up a donation time. If she's up for it, we may wait until Dec.
