We're Incorporated!

I just got word! The Emmazing Grace Foundation is a registered non-profit corporation. We can start helping others. Yipee!!! We still have to apply and await for tax-exempt status from the IRS, but we're on our way.

Yeah for you all! Now waiting the 8-9 months to send in your application will fill like Forever! But it will happen soon enough! Like I said I can give hints on getting your status quicker then 3 months after you send in the application. The info was passed down to me from another well known charity and I am willing to pass it down to you! Anyway bless you I am happy for you!

Mary, I'd love to hear your suggestions. Do you have my email? Or, you can pm me. The accountant said 2-3 months once the application is filed. I'm not sure what you are talking about regarding waiting 8-9 months before filing. The accountant says he can work on the papers in the next couple of days. There may be different laws in each state.

Yes after your incorperated you can work on papers anytime but you have to have 8-9 months worth of financial records from the time you filed to the time you turn in your application. Basically after you filed your incorperation you have to wait to submit your actual form to the IRS. The waiting 3 months is Normal however I know a quicker way to do it "expidited" which means to ask them to hurry the process. Read about it in the IRS website. I can tell you what they are looking for and you can have them view your form with in 1-2 weeks of getting it. It is not a guarentee but you can move the government faster. An accountant is not neccisarily the right person to go through for laws of an organization. There are attorneys out there that do this for a living. However this is you all doing it not me. My email is on our forum if you want more info. I hope to be of help to you!- Mary (one more hint, each state has a paper when you pass your incorperation filing. Most forget to give you, its a paper stating what happens if they charity you chose if your charity decided to end and all your things have to be donated, and if that charity no longer exsisted) its a real simple paper but they don't always give it to you unless you ask (its free).
Anyway any questions please let me know!

Thanks Mary! I think I'm just going to let the accountant handle it from here. Both the accountant and the attorney (which filed the Articles of Incorporation and wrote the Bylaws) have worked together setting up numerous non-profits, all much larger than the EGF.
